Real Madrid are aiming for an immediate turnaround under Carlo Ancelotti next season. The Italian enjoyed tremendous success during his debut at the Santiago Bernabeu but failed to win the La Liga trophy during his two-year partnership with Los Blancos.
Ancelotti is determined to fulfill that dream next season and Real Madrid plan to increase their squad accordingly over the summer.
Signing an attacker remains the priority but Los Blancos also want to fill their midfield ahead of the new season. There will also be departures as some of the current players may not fit into Ancelotti’s plans.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the main Real Madrid transfer news of June 15, 2021.
Real Madrid plan sales to fund Kylian Mbappe deal
Real Madrid plan to sell players this summer to fund a move from Kylian Mbappe HOW. Los Blancos are determined to add the Frenchman to their squad and have decided to cut their wage bill before signing him.
The move would also help the club meet the La Liga salary cap. Mbappe currently earns more than € 30 million a year after taxes and would earn similar wages at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid have a total salary of around € 400m for their first team squad. Los Blancos plan to drop nine players from their squad, which could mean a € 126m deduction from their paycheck.
The players standing in front of the ax are Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Gareth Bale, Isco, Luka Jovic, Dani Ceballos, Marcelo, Mariano and Alvaro Odriozola. However, Ramos could stay at the club if he agrees to a pay cut.
Real Madrid are interested in a € 30m Premier League star
Real Madrid are keen to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips The Hard Tackle via Defensa Central. Los Blancos are watching the Englishman’s performance at Euro 2020 and could make an offer for the player at the end of the tournament.
Phillips was one of the stars of Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the 2020 = 21 season, recording 29 games with one goal and two assists.
The Englishman was brilliant in the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 opener against Croatia and Real Madrid believe he could be a fantastic support for Casemiro.
The Leeds United man is valued at € 30million, but his stock could soar depending on his performance in the tournament. Phillips is signed to Leeds until 2024 so separating him from the Premier League side won’t be easy.
Los Blancos get the chance to sign a Serie A star for 30 million euros
Real Madrid got the chance to sign AC Milan star Rafael Leao The Hard Tackle via Defensa Central. The 22-year-old wants to leave Serie A this summer after fighting for consistency with the Rossoneri.
Leao scored seven goals and six assists from 40 games last season and the Portuguese could cost anywhere from € 30million to € 40million. However, Los Blancos have reportedly turned down the opportunity as they believe his asking price is too high.
