Martin Odegaard could reportedly return to Arsenal despite dreaming of playing for Real Madrid.

Odegaard spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal and immediately made an impact by bringing more creativity to the Gunners midfield.

His loan from Arsenal impressed Mikel Arteta and although the Spaniard was keen to keep Odegaard’s service, the Norwegian returned to Real Madrid.

A lot has changed in the last few months as Zinedine Zidane is no longer responsible for Real Madrid. The French valued Odegaard highly and had him in his long-term plans at Real Madrid.

It remains to be seen what Odegaard expects under new Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. As per Cadena SER and El Larguero, Odegaard is open to the opportunity to return to Arsenal next season.

Martin Odegaard’s desire to return to Arsenal will be a blow to Real Madrid

Real Madrid have had a difficult summer so far. Club star Sergio Ramos joins Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, while Raphael Varane is expected to be announced as a Manchester United player.

The club want to add freshness to their attack but will have to strive to sign another defender in the coming weeks.

David Alaba is the only player Real Madrid have signed so far and they won’t want to lose Odegaard. The Norwegian, while playing very little for Los Blancos, could be a key player under Ancelotti next season.

Real Madrid only scored 67 goals in the Spanish top division last season as Karim Benzema was the main goal scorer and also finished second in the list of most assists.

Carlo Ancelotti likes to use a creative attacking midfielder so Odegaard could play more regularly next season.

However, the rumors of Odegaard’s interest in returning to Arsenal will be music to Mikel Arteta’s ears. Odegaard did well last season and his arrival would only add more creativity to Arsenal’s midfield.
