Nicolae Negumereanu took his first UFC win on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 29, but not without the help of Mike Beltran.

During the preliminary round, Negumereanu met his UFC rookie colleague Aleksa Camur in a light heavyweight competition and got the split decision at the end of three rounds.

Nicolae Negumereanu lost his UFC debut to Saparbek Safarov by unanimous decision in March 2019.

His opponent Aleksa Camur is a Dana White’s Contender Series alum who is currently losing two fights.

He started with a decisive win in the UFC against Justin Ledet after beating Fabio Cherant on season three of DWCS via TKO. Then tonight he lost to William Knight and Nicole Negumereanu at UFC 253.

Throughout the bout, Nicolae Negumereanu received warnings from Referee Mike Beltran for grabbing the fence several times, but no point was ever deducted for the foul.

Viewers got it and, like most controversial incidents, heard their opinion on social media.

Robert Sargent pointed out that Nicolae Negumereanu had five separate warnings, which may be one too many to get away with without losing points.

Some fans thought Negumereanu was just lucky to get away with the win.

Here is another one.

Others challenged the UFC’s point deduction policy by tagging President Dana White.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto shot Mike Beltran and said the veteran referee would rather fight an opponent than take a point away from him.

UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley joked about how little attention Nicolae Negumereanu paid to Mike Beltran’s warnings, which clearly fell on deaf ears.

A Twitter user sent a message to all fighters who follow her account, advising that they can get away with at least ten fence grabs before a point is deducted if Mike Beltran leads one of their fights.

Another user put responsibility for the loss of Aleksa Camur directly on Mike Beltran’s referee.

There were several tweets mocking the fact that Mike Beltran landed major strikes and related to his warnings, one of which even compared it to Ben Askren’s record.

Sean O’Malley was there again, this time proposing a reality show idea with Mike Beltran in which he disciplines “Sh * t Bird TikTok teenagers”.

Some fans demanded that Mike Beltran be released from his referee duties in the face of the slip.

Several of the tweets were funny and humorous, with Mike Beltran slapping Nicolae Negumereanu’s hand away in the end for grabbing the fence but still not deducting any points.
