It sounds like Kevin Owens is going to become the hottest free agent in professional wrestling as his WWE contract expires in January 2022.

Last month, Adam Cole dominated the headlines regarding his expiring contract with WWE, and the former NXT Champion made his AEW debut with All Out on Sunday. Now it seems like all eyes are on KO.

Corresponding Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select‘Kevin Owens’ WWE contract, which was originally scheduled to expire in 2023, expires in January.

Sapp says a WWE official informed Fightful that the company had restructured “several” contracts prior to the pandemic. Kevin Owens’ deal with WWE was one of them, and it is currently unknown who else has changed their contracts.

There’s no official word as to why WWE chose to cut Owens’ contract or whether the company changed its contracts to reflect that change. But we are sure that more information on this will come to light in the coming weeks and months.

Is Kevin Owens a possibility at AEW?

Unlike Adam Cole and Pete Dunne’s NXT deals, which come as a surprise to WWE, the company is aware that this is coming. Kevin Owens recently updated his location to “Almost There” on his Twitter bio, which may be a sign that he is planning on making the move to All Elite Wrestling.

Kevin Owens has several friends at AEW, and since Sami Zayn’s current WWE contract is also about to expire, it cannot be ruled out that both men could leave the company together in 2022.

Are you surprised that Kevin Owens is months away from becoming a free agent? Do you think he will stay with WWE or make the jump to AEW? Let us know your thoughts by sounding in the comment section.
