Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri is reportedly the subject of interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan and Napoli. The left-back has been on the Chelsea squad since joining AS Roma in 2018 and is set to be sure to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to the Italian news agency FCInter1908‘Chelsea are ready to sell Emerson this summer at a price of € 20million.

Chelsea signed Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma in January 2018 for € 20 million for a four-and-a-half year deal. The Italian was considered the ideal replacement for Spanish full-back Marcos Alonso.

Palmieri struggled to replace Alonso as Chelsea’s left-back, however. Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard preferred to play Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta as left-backs in front of Palmieri.

Emerson has been out of regular football since Ben Chilwell arrived from Leicester City last summer. The 26-year-old only played two Premier League games for Chelsea last season.

Although Palmieri barely played club football last season, he was included in Roberto Mancini’s Italian squad for Euro 2020. The left-back has often been linked to a move from Chelsea over the past year. Inter Milan and Napoli will battle it out for the Chelsea star’s signature this summer.

Inter Milan gave priority to signing a left-back this summer after Ashley Young left the club to join Aston Villa. Chelsea Inter reportedly offered Emerson in exchange for Achraf Hakimi as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

However, Inter turned down the offer and accepted a € 70 million offer from PSG for Hakimi. The Nerrazzuri remain keen to sign the Italian left-back this summer.

Newly appointed Napoli coach Luciano Spaletti worked with Emerson Palmieri during their time together at AS Roma in the 2017/18 season. Rumor has it that Spaletti is interested in providing Emerson with an escape route from Chelsea.

Chelsea have made signing a top-notch striker a priority this summer. The blues were strongly associated with a move from Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland. Dortmund is expected to charge a fee of 150 million euros for Haaland.

After Chelsea sold Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan earlier this summer, Chelsea will look to sell fringe players like Emerson Palmieri, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud to raise the capital needed to fund a deal for Haaland.
