Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja was disappointed with the way Sri Lanka beat India in the first game of the three-game T20I series. The hosts were bundled for only 126, 38 runs missed their target and showed no backbone in their pursuit.
Ramiz Raja highlighted the lack of planning by the Sri Lankan batsmen that cost them the game. There was no intention of the batsmen to forge important partnerships that could bring them closer to the goal.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Ramiz Raja explained how badly Sri Lanka’s poor form can cost her dearly, even in domestic conditions. He wants the hosts to use their home advantage to play against this Indian team.
“When India hit 160 they would have expected a win because Sri Lanka can be expected to make mistakes a lot. You had to have doubles partnerships and a batsman had to score 70 odd points to win the game But there was no strategy by this Sri Lankan team. If you can’t hunt 160 at home then where? It is dangerous to bring new players into a losing environment so it is important for Sri Lanka to prepare wickets that challenge India “said Ramiz Raja.
Ramiz Raja praises Suryakumar Yadav
Ramiz Raja was impressed with the way Suryakumar Yadav has reached international cricket. The right-hander scored a brilliant 50 in the first T20I with just 34 balls, right after winning the Player of the Series award in the ODIs.
The wicket was a bit of a two-tier, but Suryakumar Yadav continued his free flowing stroke play and was almost unstoppable. Raja praised his ability to keep swing even though the conditions were not ideal for hitting.
“Suryakumar Yadav has played a brilliant innings. It doesn’t seem like he’s playing his first season for India because he announced himself on the international stage almost immediately. Beating at a certain pace and improvising without risk is really difficult. ” He’s almost ten paces ahead of his opponents, has many attack options and is a great find. “
