Changes to the League of Legends client and the introduction of significant overhauls to its functionality have been an important part of Riot Games’ roadmap for quite some time.
The developers haven’t shared too many details about the type of changes they want to bring to the game. However, they have revealed how they plan to make the League of Legends client a more personal experience.
In a recent blog post titled Changes in progression identity, League of Legends developers opened up the kind of personalized features they plan to introduce in future patches.
Riot wants to introduce identity customization with the new client changes. The new system allows players to choose their own specific borders, symbols, titles, banner accents and identity crystals.
League of Legends client updates for future patches
When talking about some of the goals and visions they have for the client updates, the League of Legends developers think the new system:
“Give the players more freedom of choice about their identity so that they can bring their personal league brand to the fore.”
The developers also believe that the system:
“Update some of League’s key identities along with new system styles for 2021 and beyond”
It has been a long time since Riot first incorporated changes to rankings and prestige level into the League of Legends client.
Here’s what the developers said about in-game identity customization
“We still haven’t provided a way to clearly select some of the margins that will best suit you. We aim to publish a full identity customization by the end of this year. This will allow players to choose the borders, symbols and some new personalization options that will be developed along with our new TBD systems. “
By updating the client UI, League of Legends developers will try to reduce the noise while focusing on helping players personalize their profiles as they see fit.
This will help players stand out when lining up with their friends in pre-built lobbies or even going to games all by themselves.
