Derek Brunson wants to fight for the UFC middleweight title

Shortly after defeating Darren Till at UFC Vegas 36, Derek Brunson made it clear that he wanted to fight for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Having previously fought reigning champions Israel Adesanya, Brunson hopes to avenge his defeat against “The Last Stylebender”.

While it remains to be seen what decision the UFC will make regarding Derek Brunson, it has been pretty much confirmed that Adesanya will next be defending his gold against Robert Whittaker. Another win against ‘The Reaper’ could open the door for Brunson to a title fight.

Following his recent win, Derek Brunson made it clear that he is ready to wait on the sidelines for Adesanya and Whittaker to lead it back. Once the much-anticipated showdown between the two is over, Brunson could next find himself facing the champion. Clashing with Jared Cannonier is also an option should the UFC urge him to fight again before fighting for gold.
