Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrik Schick are leading the race for the golden shoe of Euro 2020. Both players have scored five goals each. However, both are no longer part of the tournament.

The Portuguese had a great start to Euro 2020 and scored a brace in the 3-0 win over Hungary in the group stage.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third goal of the tournament and also provided an assist in the second game against Germany, but that was not enough when his team suffered a 2-4 defeat.

The Juventus star continued his hot run in the final game of the group stage, scoring a brace when Portugal beat France in a 2-2 draw to qualify for the round of 16.

This is where Cristiano Ronaldo’s association with Euro 2020 ended. The Portuguese drew a gap against Belgium and his country lost the game 1-0 to leave the tournament.

Schick, on the other hand, marked an amazing start to Euro 2020 by scoring a brace against Scotland, one of which would be among the best goals ever scored in the history of the tournament.

The Czech star was next in the scorers list in the 1-1 draw against Croatia. He drew a gap against England but was back in his golden form when he beat the Netherlands in the round of 16.

Schick then together with Cristiano Ronaldo became the joint top scorer of the Euro 2020 when he scored against Denmark in the quarter-finals. However, it wasn’t enough when the Czech Republic lost the game 2-1 and was eliminated from Euro 2020.

Despite scoring the same number of goals as the Portuguese ace, Schick is still behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Euro 2020 Golden Shoe.

That’s because the Juventus star has an assist in addition to his five goals and the ranking criteria include both goals and assists.

Cristiano Ronaldo still has a good chance of winning the Euro 2020 Golden Shoe. Of the current top 10 in the Golden Boot race, only Raheem Sterling and Kasper Dolberg remain in the tournament.

The Englishman has three goals and one assist while the Dane has three goals. Harry Kane has also scored three goals at Euro 2020 and could become a competitor to Cristiano Ronaldo if he continues his stellar form.
