UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington has graced MMA fans with yet another bizarre prediction, this time giving his chance for the flyweight rematch between Figueiredo and Moreno at UFC 263.
Colby Covington has been incredibly vocal in his predictions throughout his history and does not hold back with his criticism. His latest prediction is no different, despite completely mistaking Brandon Moreno for 170-pound Alex Morono.
A classic Colby Covington prediction
As with many of the welterweight leader’s videos, Covington is surrounded by three scantily clad women. The prediction itself begins in typical Covington fashion, as he notes:
Greetings nerds and virgins. America’s Champion is back with America’s Pick for the Week, presented by Colby Covington Incorporated. It’s been a while. And I know people miss me. And the people’s champion missed you too. So. we’re back to give you our picks for UFC 263. And I know what you all think. You probably all think I’m going to be talking about the Stocton Soy Boy or Edwards Scissorhands. “
“Stockton Soy Boy” and “Edwards Scissor Hands” refer to Covington’s welterweight colleagues Nate Diaz and Leon Edwards. ‘Chaos’ tends to nicknames its potential opponents, like ‘Street Judas’ for Jorge Masvidal and ‘Marty fakenewsman’ for Kamaru Usman.
Colby Covington continues the interview, mistaking flyweight contender Brandon Moreno for another fellow welterweight fellow Alex Morono, referring to his previous fight against Donald Cerrone. Ultimately, Covington picked current champion Figueiredo to win, saying:
“We’re back to talk about the title fight rematch between Moreno and Figueiredo. And I know what you’re thinking. Moreno looked fine in his last fight against a washed up Cerrone. But that doesn’t say much. Cus Masvidal did that same done. ” Thing and we know how good it is. So let’s take my husband Deivison Figueiredo and we’ll hit that money limit and we’ll set our own economic incentives. “
Colby Covington’s decision to choose Figueiredo over Moreno appears to follow the general consensus of the MMA community, with the Brazilian champions being a current betting favorite.
This is undoubtedly because Figueiredo would have won the original fight without a point deduction from an illegal groin shot. The majority of the fight was tied, which made the point deduction a hefty penalty for the Brazilian.
