CM Punk thinks pro wrestling is hot right now, but he doesn’t care about the ratings and demos like so many other people do.

The straight edge superstar recently got involved with Joseph Staszewski of The New York Post to talk about all things AEW. When asked about the current TV ratings and whether professional wrestling is entering another boom phase, Punk said he didn’t care much about ratings. He said his goal is to entertain the fans who are here now instead of trying to bring back the dilapidated fan who is no longer watching.

“I think people will always go back to, ‘Oh, X people looked at this before, where are these millions and millions of people? Where did they go?’ So I don’t really care about ratings and demographics. That’s not my job, “said CM Punk. “I know TNT, I know the executives love this stuff, but I don’t like movies just because someone else likes a movie. I don’t go to restaurants just because it’s rated highly. They serve something I’m allergic to I won’t eat it.

“I definitely think things are trending up and it feels hot right now. I don’t know if I can call it a boom period. Hiring era, how many people were watching? So there are a lot of people out there who are not watching I think chasing after all the fans who are no longer watching can be harmful. My aim is to give our fans who are here in the arena what they want and to make them happy.

“Yeah, mainstream popularity for TV shows, yeah, this stuff is great and I think the audience can come at some point and AEW is having a blast. I have to go there. I have to see this. I have to deal with this. ‘ And if you’re just trying to chase people who aren’t watching, people who might have been watching 10 years ago, that’s a bitch. You could shoot yourself in the foot, “said CM Punk.

CM Punk talks about the initials that have been written on his shoes over the past few weeks

Many fans have speculated about the initials on CM Punk’s shoes in the last few episodes of Rampage and Dynamite. But when you hear punk, it’s more about LeBron James than Adam Cole or Charlotte Flair.

“I stole this from LeBron James,” revealed CM Punk. “A lot of basketball players write messages on their shoes and all. I wrote AC on my shoe and CF on the other foot. AC is Always Chicago and CF is Chicago Forever.”

While this is a straightforward explanation for CM Punk, if those initials mean something else, he won’t admit it. Much like he wouldn’t prematurely admit his AEW debut while on a media tour for paragraphs.

While the initials on Rampage mean so, it doesn’t explain the “BW” and “BD” on Dynamite. In a year from now, will we all look back at these Easter eggs with a better understanding of history? Only time can tell.
