Atletico Madrid reportedly want to sign Spanish right-back Alvaro Odriozola. The 25-year-old has been on the sidelines of Real Madrid’s squad since joining the club in 2018.

According to Fichajes, Alvaro Odriozola is ready to end his time at Real Madrid this summer and Atletico Madrid have emerged as a potential contender. The former Real Sociedad right-back has only started ten games for Real Madrid this season and had to play second fiddle behind Dani Carvajal.

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane even decided several times last season to play Lucas Vazquez as a right-back in front of Odriozola.

Odriozola rose at Real Sociedad in youth before making his debut for the club in 2017. The right-back immediately became an integral part of La Real’s starting XI and was called up to the Spanish national team thanks to his consistent performance.

Odriozola earned a move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2018. The right-back struggled to get into the starting XI in his first season at Real Madrid, making only 14 appearances in La Liga season at the Santiago Bernabeu on his debut.

After playing just five games in the first half of his second season at Real Madrid, Odriozola moved to Bayern Munich on a six-month loan deal in the second half of the season. The 25-year-old fought on loan at the Bundesliga giant and returned to the Spanish capital in the summer.

The Spaniard decided last summer to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place in the starting XI. Although Odriozola showed an insight into his skills, he could not earn the trust of Zinedine Zidane and had to settle for a supporting role.
