Arsenal have reportedly launched a new offer for Lyon star Houssem Aouar. The Gunners have a longstanding interest in the midfielder and are keen to win him this summer.
According to le10Sport, Arsenal have now submitted a new offer for the French. The north London giants tried to sign the player last summer but were only willing to offer € 35m for his services. Lyon quickly turned down the offer as they were looking for an offer in the order of 60 million euros.
However, the current financial situation of the Ligue 1 club could force him to sell Houssem Aouar for just € 25million this summer.
Houssem Aouar had a decent 2020-21 season with Lyon, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 33 games across all competitions. He led the club to fourth place in Ligue 1. However, the midfielder narrowly missed a place in Didier Deschamps’ French squad for Euro 2020 this summer.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta is eager to sign a high-profile midfielder as a partner of Thomas Partey in the center of the park in the coming season. The team suffered from a lack of goals and creativity from midfield last season. Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have also returned to Real Madrid after their loan contracts with the Gunners have expired.
Mikel Arteta has therefore made signing a creative midfielder a priority this summer. Houssem Aouar’s passing game, vision and eye for goal make him an ideal player for Arsenal.

Arsenal could be in the running to sign Houssem Aouar. face strong competition from Juventus and PSG
Houssem Aouar has drawn the attention of a number of top clubs over the years thanks to his consistent performances for Lyon.
Juventus and PSG reportedly expressed interest in signing the midfielder last summer but were put off by Lyon’s € 60m valuation.
With Aouar now available for 25 million euros, the two clubs should rekindle their interest in the Frenchman.
This could prove to be an obstacle for Arsenal in their pursuit of the Lyon star. Unlike Juventus and PSG, the Gunners won’t give the player a chance to play Champions League football next season.
