With the popularity of competitive mobile titles in India, research into the advancement of handheld devices has seen a massive investment surge in recent years.
Many companies have become ancestors of the most innovative technology for smartphones, making devices that focus on competitive gaming.
Infinix Mobile is one of the many companies that have developed a slew of handheld devices aimed at improving performance in games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Free Fire.
In an exclusive interaction with Abhishek Mallick of Sportskeeda Esports, Mr. Anish Kapoor, CEO of Infinix Mobile, spoke about the company’s newest company in the Esports Premier League and some of the unique technologies in their latest NOTE 10 series.
The following is an excerpt from the conversation.
What exactly is DarLink? Can you tell us about this latest technology that is helping to improve device performance in terms of several parameters?
Anish Kapoor: Dar Link is a native game boost technology developed by Infinix to provide a premium gaming experience for our customers. This advanced technological innovation turns the phone into a gaming powerhouse by improving the graphic display, touchscreen sensitivity and optimizing the data load for the best possible performance.
Dar Link avoids screen tearing by improving the sensitivity of the graphic display and touchscreen and increasing the game’s frame rate to match the display’s frame rate. In addition, it intelligently adjusts the operating speed of CPU / GPU, manages and allocates resources according to different game scenarios to keep the smartphone running efficiently.
This solves the problem of mini-freezes when playing and the game runs more smoothly. This also lowers the temperature of the device and makes for a more comfortable gaming experience for every user. Typically, the speed of finger movement on the smartphone screen is faster than the display response.
Dar Link technology increases the performance of the touch panel and ensures that it reacts quickly by reducing the latency between finger touch and display reaction. In this way, Dar Link technology addresses any gamer’s weaknesses, takes game interaction and viewing experience to a new level, and enhances the user’s sensory experience in games like Call of Duty, Free Fire, etc.
Q. How will Infinix Mobile leverage the power of the country’s mobile-first gaming ecosystem? What can we expect from the brand in terms of gaming and esports in the future?
Anish Kapoor: As smartphone users continue to grow exponentially in India, we have introduced feature-rich smartphones in the budget segment to bring high-end mobile gaming experiences to life. Our goal is to help potential gamers pursue their passion for mobile gaming.
Our last couple of launches are just an extension of our efforts around this endeavor. Consistent software optimization initiatives and self-created solutions like Dar Link are poised to make Infinix a brand that can appeal to serious gamers in the future.
Infinix will continue to offer game-ready devices and solutions that improve the gaming experience on multiple levels while providing our customers with the latest technology. We will continue to empower the gaming community in India through such esports partnerships and help build the entire esports ecosystem in India.
Q. Infinix Mobile partners with India Today Gaming to bring Free Fire enthusiasts the Esports Premier League 2021. Can you tell us a little more about the partnership and what it means for the future of the mobile esports industry in India?
Anish Kapoor: We have teamed up with India’s first franchise-based Esports Premier League in 2021 as the title sponsor for the event. It is a multi-city free fire tournament with teams from eight cities across the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Punjab, Rajasthan and Bangalore.
The entire league is streamed on multiple platforms, including OTT giant Disney + Hotstar, India Today and Aaj Tak’s official YouTube and Facebook channels, and their websites.
In terms of prize money, the winning team will receive ₹ 25 lakh, making the event the largest Free Fire tournament in the country. We are happy to see young Indian talent at such a big tournament.
Through this partnership, we want to support the country’s budding gaming enthusiasts. We believe such partnerships will only accelerate the growth of mobile esports in India and are confident that more industry players will step in to support this growing ecosystem as well.
Q. Infinix Mobile is known for delivering mid-range segments to mobile gamers that are incredibly feature-rich. What else does Infinix Mobile do to help smartphone gamers improve their gameplay and performance?
Anish Kapoor: The majority of gamers, more than 80%, are dedicated gamers in India who are spending considerable hours gaming according to the Inmobi Gaming Report 2021. Internet penetration in rural India has played a major role in this.
Women also level the playing field. In fact, women are very committed players today. 77% of them play at least once a day, if not more, to relax and keep in touch with family and friends. With our budget smartphones, which are equipped with high-end features, we encourage these budding talents and beginners to pursue their passion.
With 90% of online gamers in India viewing mobile phones as their preferred device, our team at Infinix is continuously working to bring the best smartphones in this segment. This can help Indian players not only have a good user experience but also earn money by participating in national esports tournaments like Esports Premier League (ESPL) and realizing the potential to represent India on global platforms in the period to come.
Our motivation is to equip aspiring gamers with inexpensive equipment that can help them become famous and create a legacy in the world of esports.
Our newly launched NOTE series and partnership with ESPL initiatives are just some of the key steps we have taken to bring our users, for the first time in India, a unique gaming experience along with the thrill of the city-based franchise model.
Can you tell us about some of the unique esports-centric features gamers can expect from the latest Infinix NOTE 10 series?
Anish Kapoor: The NOTE 10 series comes with several upgrades and innovations specially designed to offer our customers an incomparable and exceptional gaming experience. The devices are powered by our native Dar Link game boost technology which improves game interaction and visual experience in high performance games like Call of Duty, Free Fire, Battlegrounds, Asphalt 9: Legends, etc.
The technology prevents this by preventing screen cracks, ensuring natural color reproduction, increasing the performance of the touch panel, and efficiently managing the resource allocation between the game and the chipset to prevent heating from long hours of gaming.
The NOTE 10 and NOTE 10 Pro have a high refresh rate for smooth interaction between the user’s fingers and the screen. In addition, both have a touch sampling rate of 180 Hz, which allows for faster screen response for a better gaming experience.
To ensure an uninterrupted gaming and content experience, NOTE 10 Pro will be the first segment to be equipped with 8 GB of RAM / 256 GB of internal storage in conjunction with UFS 2.2 storage technology for better reading and writing speeds.
Since gamers spend a lot of time looking at their screens, the NOTE series phones have eye-friendly displays and have been certified by the world-renowned testing company TÜV Rheinland to reduce the harmful effects of blue light.
